Оголошено всеукраїнський конкурс есе для молоді на тему «Від Магдебурга до твого міста: очима тих, хто не байдужий».

Назва конкурсу та ідея проекту були інспіровані історією Магдебурзького права – феодального міського права, що склалося в німецькому місті Магдебурзі, а згодом поширилося на багато інших міст Європи, стало символом феодального міського самоврядування. В Україні Магдебурзьке право поширилося у 14-15 ст. Незважаючи на те, що магдебурзьке право не відіграло в Україні тієї ролі, що на Заході, все ж воно, вносячи певні риси західноєвропейського міського устрою до українських міст, стало одним із важливих чинників культурного та правового наближення України до Західної Європи. І як вважають дослідники: українці і досі на рівні генетичної пам’яті зберігають європейські традиції самоврядування, принесені в Україну магдебурзьким правом.

19 січня 2012 року. В Прес-центрі Житомирської обласної державної адміністрації відбувся 2 тур програми «Студенти для органів місцевого самоврядування». Захід проходив у вигляді співбесіди із студентами. Із 35-ти студентів, які надсилали анкети, до участі у другому турі було відібрано 17 осіб.

За результатами співбесіди, експертна рада відібрала п’ятьох студентів, які будуть на протязі шести місяців проходити стажування в управліннях Житомирської обласної державної адміністрації.

A participant in the School of Young Journalism, Veronica Schweitzer, took part in the most popular TV program among Ukrainian and Russian students - "The Smartest".

"It all started when I filled the online application form itself,” says Veronica. Then I called and offered to answer questions by phone. They did, and I replied almost 16 answers correctly. Then I was invited to casting in Kyiv. Among 10 selected participants, I was the only representative from the Zhytomyr region.

The most recent classes at the School for Young Journalists were the most intense and informative yet. The classes on Dec. 17 were by Anatoly Yevdoschuk about the value of information channels to receive and use for effective communication methods.

During the workshop Anatoly shared with the young journalists the formula of effective communication: Relationship = open = information = impact = CHANGE!

The selection process has begun for undergraduate students and graduate students to participate in the program "Students for Local Government."

The organizer of the program in the Zhytomyr region is Zhytomyr Region Youth NGO "Modern Format". The organizer of the program in Ukraine is the NGO "Youth."

Program participants may be students of 3-5 courses of higher education institutions in the city of Zhytomyr.

Young journalists entered a photograph of two people exchanging candy for a cigarette.  The idea drew strong support in the social networks where the contest was held.  The result of 862 votes on the vkontakte page won the contest for the team members of the School of Young Journalists, with their photo "exchanged cigarettes for candy." Young journalist Marina Gorbachevska and her advertisement "Is There Any Sense to Knock at the Closed Window?" had 528 votes and won third place.
